The Swans Community Trust is partnering with Valleys Steps, a provider of mindfulness and stress control courses, to help boost participants’ wellbeing.

The Trust’s Sign Up To Success project has for the last three years supported unemployed, disengaged and economically inactive people across South Wales and teamed up with Valleys Steps after noticing that many of their participants suffer from anxiety and stress.

Set up by, and working with Cwm Taf University Health Board, Valleys Steps works in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil to teach people ways of boosting wellbeing and managing stress, anxiety levels and low mood.

The partnership will see Valleys Steps delivering information sessions throughout the Sign Up To Success courses held in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil. Participants will have the opportunity to find out about the Valleys Steps’ approach and the organisation’s free of charge stress control and mindfulness courses at these sessions.

“Valleys Steps are excited about and are looking forward to working with Swansea City Community Trust,” said Valleys Steps’ service manager, Felicity Crump.

“We recognise the value and importance of engaging with sports and exercise at all levels, and we share a common aim with Swansea City of helping our local communities boost their wellbeing."

“We particularly look forward to an opportunity to work together to further boost awareness of our free of charge, open access mindfulness and stress control courses, which free the individuals attending up to focus on other aspects of their lives."

Helen Elton, assistant head of the Community Trust added: “We have been looking for a partner to help us with this specialised area of work.

"When we heard about Valleys Steps and the excellent work they do, we felt they were a perfect fit.”
