Foundation Safeguarding

Safeguarding Commitment

Swansea City AFC Foundation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk involved in the Foundation’s activities and events.

The Foundation acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of every child, young person and adult at risk who has been entrusted to its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment.

Everyone has the right to protection from neglect, physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and any other form of abuse. Safeguarding is everyone’s business, and all of our staff have a responsibility for safeguarding and reporting concerns.

The Foundation is committed to providing a safe and positive environment for children and adults and one way we do this is through vetted, trained and competent personnel. To further support this our staff follow a code of conduct which you can download here.

Staff working with children or adults at risk and their managers in regulated activity have enhanced DBS (criminal records checks) screening, appropriate qualifications, first aid and safeguarding training. All our staff receive a safeguarding induction and further CPD opportunities in this area linked to the need their role from expert organisations such the Child Protection in Sport Unit, the Anne Craft Trust and the NSPCC.

The Foundation has a designated person, the Safeguarding Manager, who has overall responsibility for our safeguarding provision across the Foundation. This is currently Kate Evans. You can contact her on safeguarding@swansfoundation.org.uk and/or kate@swansfoundation.org.uk. You can also call 01792 616400.

The Foundation operates a wide range of activities which involve people from the community and include some of the most vulnerable in society. Therefore, the Foundation requires comprehensive safeguarding policies for children and adults at risk.

The Foundation has these policies and procedures in place to address any concerns raised in respect of the welfare and safety of children or adults, along with other processes such as whistleblowing and feedback mechanisms.

We have also worked with the children and young people who attend our sessions to create a code of conduct for all our activities. This is designed to help everyone taking part stay safe and enjoy themselves. You can view this code of conduct in the graphic below.
