Here we recall past meetings in the Championship and the old Second Division.
Derby 2 Swansea City 1
Championship – March 12, 2011
An early own goal from Ashely Williams, when the ball rolled under the boot of Dorus de Vries, set the tone for the Swans on their trip to Derby under Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers’ side suffered only their third defeat in 11 games on a frustrating afternoon in the Midlands.
Williams came close to levelling when his header rattled the crossbar, before Derby forward Steve Davies made no mistake in doubling the hosts’ lead shortly after half-time.
Substitute Darren Pratley gave the Swans hope when his 65th-minute header made it 2-1.
But despite striking the crossbar again through Stephen Dobbie, the Swans could not find an equaliser.
Derby 0 Swansea City 1
Championship – February 20, 2010
A second-half header from Shefki Kuqi saw the Swans stay on course for a play-off place in an ill-tempered game which saw both sides reduced to 10 men.
Derby defender James McEveley was fortunate not to see red for a heavy tackle on Joe Allen on 55 minutes, but was given his marching orders just 10 minutes later after bringing down Nathan Dyer.
And the Swans made the most of the extra man within a matter of seconds as Kuqi rose above the Derby rearguard to nod home.
The numbers would soon be even, as a rash challenge on Derby midfielder Robbie Savage by substitute Gorka Pintado saw him sent off just 10 minutes after being brought on.
Paulo Sousa’s side held on for a 1-0 victory and their 18th clean sheet of the season.
Derby 2 Swansea City 2
Championship – March 3, 2009
The Swans came from behind in dramatic fashion to clinch a point at Pride Park in 2009, with goals from Angel Rangel and Gorka Pintado.
Rams forward Chris Porter opened the scoring with his first goal for the club inside 15 minutes before netting a second early in the second half.
Swans midfielder Jordi Gomez had twice come close for the visitors but couldn’t find a way past Derby stopper Stephen Bywater, while Derby had a further goal disallowed for offside.
It was a tale of two halves for the Swans, who were much better after the break and halved the deficit when Gomez’s free-kick was turned home by Rangel.
And with just three minutes left on the clock, top scorer Jason Scotland teed up Pintado, whose powerful effort went in off the underside of the bar to earn a valuable point for Roberto Martinez’s men.
Derby 3 Swansea City 4
Division Two – April 19, 1965
A second-half fightback saw the Swans come out on top in an entertaining encounter with Derby in 1965.
Keith Todd had brought the score back to 2-1 just before half-time after a poor opening half for the Swans.
The hosts extended their lead again shortly after the restart, but an own goal from Derby full-back Geoff Barrowcliffe gave the visitors hope.
Goals from George Kirby and Jimmy McLaughlin turned the game on its head as Trevor Morris’s Swans claimed a memorable 4-3 victory.
