Swansea City Ladies make a midweek trip tonight to face Welsh Premier Women’s League title rivals Cardiff Met at Cyncoed Campus (7:30pm).

The Swans are coming into the fixture off the back of dropping their first points of the season in their previous fixture against Port Talbot Town, who held them to a goalless draw.

Swansea have a game in hand on tonight’s opponents and a victory for them would put them in good stead heading into the later stages of the league campaign.

Currently, the Archers sit top of the Welsh top-flight on goal difference ahead of the defending champions.

Pre-match views

Colin Staples: “Swansea against Cardiff Met in the Welsh Premier Women’s League is a top class game, an advert for the league and hopefully that is exactly what it is going to be on Wednesday.

“There are plenty of permutations and it is great for people who will be watching, but we are just concentrating on what we have got to do.

“Our task on Wednesday is to try to win three points and if we can’t win three points make sure we don’t lose.

“I really believe that the girls are in the right place.”

Remember the last time?

It is the Swans who hold the current bragging rights as they narrowly defeated Met 1-0 in November 2020.

The two sides went into the half-time break with the scores level.

However, it was Swansea who took the game by the scruff of the neck, as a wonder strike from Chloe Chivers was enough to claim the three points.

This fixture was the final match Swansea played before this season suspended due to the local lockdown restrictions, with the campaign subsequently being restarted in March.
