Swansea City midfielder Josh Sheehan has joined League Two side Newport County on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old scored seven times in 25 appearances whilst on loan with the Exiles last season before an anterior cruciate ligament knee injury ended his season in March.

Sheehan returned to training in December following nine months on the sidelines.

The Wales Under-21 man leaves the Liberty having made his one and only professional appearance for the Swans in the 1-0 League Cup win against Rotherham United in August 2014.

Sheehan progressed through Swansea’s academy from age 10 before he signed his first professional contract in November 2012.

He captained the under-21s to the Professional Development League 2 title in 2015 before two loan spells with Yeovil Town.

Everyone at Swansea City would like to thank Josh for his service and wish him well in his career.
