Renato Sanches has returned to Swansea City as he bids to play a part in the final push for Premier League survival.

Loan signing Sanches has not featured since the end of January after suffering a serious hamstring injury and has been doing rehabilitation work at parent club Bayern Munich.

But the Portuguese international midfielder was back at Fairwood today and will now be assessed by the Swans’ medical staff ahead of a possible return to action.

Swans boss Carlos Carvalhal has said all along that he believes Sanches, who joined on a season-long deal last August, could have a role to play in the closing stages of his team’s scrap to stay up.

The 20-year-old has made 15 appearances to date, including four under Carvalhal.

The Swans have five games left to play as they look to pull clear of relegation danger, starting with a trip to Manchester City this weekend.
