A product of Bradford City’s youth academy, McBurnie signed for Swansea City on a three-year deal in July 2015.
Scotland Under-21 international had gained first-team experience in League One with Bradford before moving to Wales.
Initially joined up with the Swans’ development squad and has been a regular goalscorer at that level.
During a loan spell with Newport County in November 2015, the striker came off the bench to score a 23-minute hat-trick against Luton on his debut.
Later that same season, the striker joined Bristol Rovers on loan, making five appearances as he helped them to automatic promotion from League Two.
A striker with physical presence and an eye for goal, McBurnie impressed in pre-season ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.
As a result he was handed a senior Swans debut in the EFL Cup tie against Peterborough in August 2016, and he marked the occasion by scoring two goals.
He made his first Premier League appearance the following weekend, and featured on four more occasions later in the campaign.
In January 2018, McBurnie joined Barnsley on loan, with the striker becoming their player of the season after scoring nine goals in 17 appearances.
International recognition followed in March 2018 when he made his senior Scotland debut in a 1-0 defeat to Costa Rica.
