Good evening everyone and welcome to what promises to be an exciting game as we take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
There has been a tangible buzz around the club and the city ever since this fixture came out of the hat a few weeks ago, and we extend a warm welcome to the players, staff, directors and fans of our visitors who have made the long journey down from Manchester.
Thanks to your magnificent support we have sold-out tonight’s game and it promises to be a brilliant atmosphere.
Games and nights like these were a regular occurrence for us as a club in the not too-distant pass, and occasions like this serve as a potent reminder and motivation for where we want to get back to. We have a lot of hard work ahead on and off the pitch, but we are determined to do everything we can to get Swansea City back where it belongs.
We are in no doubt as to the size of the task in front of us. Manchester City have been the outstanding team in English football over the last decade, and are coached by arguably one of the greatest coaches in the history of our great game.
It’s a brilliant opportunity for us to test ourselves against a side of such quality, and I know our players and staff will do everything to produce a performance we can all be proud of.
We are heading into this game on the back of a positive result against Norwich City, where we got our rewards with a three-point haul thanks to two excellent goals by Zan Vipotnik, who has now already surpassed his goal tally for last year with eight to his name. Long may his fine form continue.
That win has moved us back to within three points of the play-off pictures in what is a tightly-packed division, but for tonight thoughts of league position and points tallies go to one side as we seek to secure a place in the quarter-finals of a competition we famously won in 2011.
We enjoyed a wonderful night when we faced Nottingham Forest in the last round, that is a game none of us will every forget and the everyone’s efforts on that memorable evening have given us this opportunity, so let’s make the most of it, enjoy it and be loud and proud about our football club and team.
Outside of the club, I wanted to take some time to recognise a good friend of mine, Tom Lockyer who this week returned to professional action for Bristol Rovers, two years after he suffered a heart attack on the pitch.
I know first-hand how hard he has worked to get back on the pitch and it is a testament to his character that he has been able to do so. I hope that he can now have a healthy and happy remainder of his career as there is nobody more deserving.
Enjoy the game YJBs and thank you again for all of your support,
Tom Gorringe
CEO, Swansea City
Good evening everyone and welcome to the Swansea.com Stadium for our eagerly-awaited Carabao Cup tie against Manchester City.
This is a very exciting evening for everyone connected with our football club as we welcome one of the best club teams in the world to our home turf.
These are the sorts of occasions and nights that we want to be a part of as we move forward as a club, and I am sure we will have a brilliant atmosphere in front of a sold-out crowd.
We will need everyone together on and off the pitch tonight, your support has played a massive part in our cup run so far, particularly in helping us come from two goals down to beat Nottingham Forest in the last round.
We know we are facing a side who possess world class players, and who are led by a coach who has been one of the most successful and influential coaches of the modern era.
It is a tremendous test for us, and it is one of those games that brings that little extra bit of nerves and excitement because you know you have got to be fully focused and at the top of your game.
We will start as underdogs, but these are exactly the sort of challenges you want to face. We are taking on an elite team, and we want to make sure we give as good an account of ourselves as possible.
We come into the game on the back of a deserved victory over Norwich at the weekend.
We started the game positively and got the breakthrough through Zan’s first goal, and had the chances to get that all-important second goal, with Ronald hitting the post.
Obviously it was frustrating to concede so close to half-time, but other than the goal we limited Norwich to very little and got the win through another fantastic strike from Zan, who is playing with a lot of confidence and really enjoying his football.
The nature of our run of games at the moment means there is little time to dwell on things as the fixtures come thick and fast, and we hope we can give you a performance to be proud of get behind tonight.
Enjoy the game,
Alan Sheehan,
First Team Head Coach
Welcome back to the Swansea.com Stadium for our 11th home match of the season, and we are not even into November yet!
Tonight, we have one of those special occasions that only come along every once in a while, where Alan Sheehan and our players get to test themselves against one of the sport’s elite sides. Let’s hope we can give Pep and his team of superstars a real Halloween scare.
I suspect all Jacks will remember the FA Cup fixture when our guests were in SA1 in 2019, and were extremely fortunate to leave victorious after some questionable refereeing decisions. Personally, I like to recall big Lukey Moore nodding in the winner for us back in our early Premier League days in 2012.
We arrive here tonight on the back of our memorable victory over Nottingham Forest in the previous round, and following a hard earned 2-1 victory over Norwich last Saturday where our increasingly popular fan favourite Zan Vipotnik took his season’s goal tally up to eight.
I struggle to remember a Swans striker who was able to hit the ball with such power and accuracy - let’s hope we see another tonight.
Over this last week we welcomed a number of Global Jacks from various locations across the world including Australia, the USA, Canada, France, Netherlands, Denmark, Spain and Poland. They arrived at the stadium last Friday and were met by club ambassador Lee Trundle, who helped give our international visitors a guided tour of our home ground.
I believe that they were also treated to an evening’s experience in Swansea and a pre-match visit to The Railway for a shandy on Saturday before being able to enjoy the win against Norwich. Welcome to Swansea YJBs – we hope to see you back again very soon.
A couple of other events coming up that we are involved with are:
The Swans Big Sleep Out returns to the Swansea.com Stadium on Friday November 14, where the Swansea City AFC Foundation, Matthew’s House and the Swans Trust partner up to raise awareness of homelessness. This year we are all hoping to exceed last year’s fundraising figure of £36,000 and we were delighted to learn yesterday that almost 100 hardy souls have so far signed up to take part.
Sleeping out in the stadium from 7pm is no comparison to the realities of homelessness, but it does help raise the profile in addition to the funds.
As in previous years the Trust is delighted to play its part in donating and helping on the evening and there will be Trust Board members and their families once again taking part to show their support.
There is also a Charity Quiz Night – In Aid of Faith in Families - our chosen Trust Charity for 2025. The Supporters’ Trust invite you to participate in our charity quiz evening on Thursday December 4 2025 from 7pm, to be held at The Penderyn Copper Works.
We are looking for teams of up to four people, and the quiz will consist of four rounds - general knowledge, Swans history, music and a picture round. There will also be a raffle and an auction.
Penderyn has its own FREE car park, lifts and accessible toilets. Why not invite your family and friends to join us for a fun evening? The event will be hosted by David Brayley, Trust ambassador, and supported by Siany Martin, presenter of ‘Drive Time’ on Swansea Bay Radio. Lee Trundle and other former players may well be putting in an appearance too.
To learn more and register your team please go to our Trust website HERE.
And remember that if we can do anything to assist our members and supporters just visit us at the Trust kiosk outside the West Stand on a matchday. If you have any difficulties or have any other queries, just contact us via info@swanstrust.co.uk
Back to this evening’s sell out game let’s give the boys our maximum backing, ‘cos you just never know!

BEHIND THE SCENES
As Swansea City prepare to host Manchester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, we take you behind the scenes from the unforgettable victory over Nottingham Forest in the last round.
From the pre-match preparations, to inside the dressing room at half-time and for the post-match celebrations; it's all here.
As part of a ongoing feature in our digital matchday programme for the 2025-26 campaign, we are calling on all Swans fans to share their memories and experiences of supporting the club this season by submitting your stories and pictures. We will publish a selection over the course of the season, and you can share your stories with us through the link below.
City have been the dominant force in English football over much of the last decade and – after seeing Liverpool take the title from them last term – they have made a solid start to the new campaign.
They have won 18 major honours during Pep Guardiola’s tenure as manager, including a treble during the 2022-23 season when they secured the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
That astonishing run of success has capped a resurgence in the wake of a period where one of English football's most successful clubs dropped down to the third tier in the mid-1990s, with a dramatic play-off win over Gillingham marking a turning point.
ETIHAD STADIUM
Built: 2002
Location: Etihad Campus, Manchester, M11 3FF
Capacity: 52,900
Joining the club in July 2016, Catalan Pep Guardiola has enjoyed no shortage of success during his time at the Etihad.
A classy and diligent midfielder during his playing days, Guardiola came through the ranks at Barcelona's La Masia and went on to become a pivotal figure in Johan Cruyff’s ‘Dream Team’ that won a number of major honours in the early to mid-90s.
Returning to manage the Catalan giants in 2008, he became the first manager to guide the club to a treble-winning season in only his first year in charge and would win a remarkable 14 trophies in his four seasons at the helm.
Moving on to German club Bayern Munich in 2013 - following a year out of management - he made history by winning the title in the quickest time in Bundesliga history, with seven matches remaining in the campaign. There were three league titles and two German cup triumphs before he made the move to the Etihad.
There have been 18 pieces of silverware since, including six league titles and that Champions League triumph over Inter Milan in 2023.
Bernardo Silva is City's club captain having been given the role during the summer by Pep Guardiola.
The Portugal international has been with City since 2017, having joined from French side Monaco.
He has been an integral part of their success over the intervening period, with his guile, energy and composure in possession making him an ideal fit for the Manchester club's brand of football. He has 74 goals in 419 appearances.
Having come through the ranks at Benfica, Bernardo stepped up to senior level but made a full-time move to Monaco following a bright loan spell during the 2014-15 season.
He made his Portugal debut in 2015, and has helped them to Nations League success in 2019 and 2025.
Striker Erling Haaland has started the new season in formidable form, and has a quite incredible strike rate since joining City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.
City won the treble in his first season and he has amassed a remarkable 139 goals in 160 appearances in all competitions.
The son of former City midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, the Norwegian started his career in his homeland with Bryne and Molde.
His rise to prominence started in earnest when he joined Red Bull Salzburg and scored 17 goals in just 16 league outings before joining Dortmund in January 2020.
His outstanding form led City to pay a reported £51.2million fee to bring him to the Etihad and the goals have continued to flow.
Belgium winger Jeremy Doku has been another player to start the new campaign in strong form for City.
The speedster joined City from Rennes in 2023 and has developed into a key player with his raw pace now allied to a greater poise in the final third.
Doku first emerged at Anderlecht, making his senior bow at the age of 16 in 2018, before making the move to France with Rennes in 2020.
He initially struggled with injuries, but recovered to make a number of eye-catching contributions, and his move to City duly followed.
Doku is also a vital figure for the Belgium national side, and has won 37 caps so far.
Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol is now in his third season with City, having joined them from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023.
The centre-back or left-back came through the ranks at Dinamo Zagreb, making his senior debut in 2019 and going on to win two league titles, two Croatian cups and one Croatian Super Cup before making the switch to Germany.
Leipzig won the DFB-Pokal in 2022 - retaining it in 2023 - and Gvardiol went on to start in Croatia's run to the World Cup semi-finals later that same year before joining City.
He has 44 caps to his name in total.
Žan Vipotnik believes having a proper pre-season under his belt has been a key factor in his excellent start to the new campaign for Swansea City.
The Slovenia international has been one of the stand-out performers over the opening months of the 2025-26 season, and has already netted eight goals in all competitions, including his stunning brace in the win over Norwich City at the weekend.
That has already eclipsed the seven he netted in his first term in Swansea colours, while he has also been on target for his country.
Vipotnik’s ability to strike a ball powerfully and cleanly has never been in doubt; his goals against Derby County and Leeds United last season attest to that.
But he has looked notably sharper in his play around the field and, having joined the Swans almost on the eve of the 2024-25 season after a disrupted summer owing to Bordeaux’s financial difficulties, the forward believes being present from day one of preparations for the new campaign has played a big part in his fine run of form.
“I think pre-season has made a big difference for me. Last year I had just one week of pre-season and I was not prepared for the Championship,” he admitted when speaking to SwansTV.
“This year, I was in on the first day of pre-season all the way through to the last day. I was in better shape, I was better prepared for the first game and I feel strong in the league.
“Last year was a new experience and now I really feel good in the way we want to play, and I hope myself and the whole team can just keep getting better.
“I think I have improved, my first year was difficult. When you come to British football it is the next level in terms of aggression, in terms of the quality and the games coming every three days.
“But now I am stronger, I feel I understand better the league and how the defenders work and I hope it can keep going.
“I am happy with how the season has started, but I need to keep going game by game. It is difficult to put runs together, even the very best players do not score every game, but that has to be the aim for every striker and that is how I approach every game.”
Vipotnik’s goals have played a key role in Swansea reaching the fourth round of the Carabao Cup and setting up this fourth round tie against Manchester City.
He scored a stunning long-range strike as the Swans beat Plymouth Argyle on penalties in the second round, and he was then on the mark to turn home a Liam Cullen cross in stoppage time to bring Alan Sheehan’s side level with Nottingham Forest, before Cameron Burgess struck a last-gasp winner to spark bedlam at the Swansea.com Stadium.
“The Plymouth goal was one of my best goals for Swansea, it was up there with the ones against Derby and Norwich last weekend, but I don’t want it to stop, I want to keep scoring and this game is a new opportunity,” he said.
“And the Forest game was special, it is always a great challenge to play Premier League teams. When I was young I dreamed of playing against teams in the Premier League, now we have the chance again.
“It was amazing the way we won the game against Forest. We were prepared for everything, we knew it would be close near the end and we would have chances, and that atmosphere in the last 15 minutes was incredible and you just felt like something was going to happen.”
And what of the task of taking on Pep Guardiola’s team in SA1 this evening?
The Citizens visit the Swansea.com Stadium having been the dominant force in English football over the last decade.
They have racked up an astonishing 19 pieces of silverware under the stewardship of former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss Guardiola, including the Champions League in 2023.
They are unquestionably one of the strongest club sides – or indeed one of the strongest of any side – in the world and they will start as overwhelming favourites.
But Vipotnik is eager for the opportunity to lock horns with some of the best players the game has to offer in front of a sold-out stadium with a partisan crowd behind the Swans.
“It is a good opportunity for us, we have worked really hard in the cup to get to this stage and we are happy to have the chance to play a team like Manchester City,” he said.
“I hope we will play and perform well and it will be a good night for us.
“The mood in the camp is good, we won our last game. The games are every three days and I hope we can continue to be in a good mood after this game.
“As a player you prepare the same way for these games, I am thinking about the defenders, how they like to play, how they like to defend and how they like to use the ball.
“But not too much because I know I also have to focus on my job, I have to go out there and perform.
“We are underdogs, but that also means we are not under pressure. They are the team that is under pressure, they have to win, everyone expects them to win.
“We will have a great atmosphere at the stadium, like we did for the Nottingham Forest game, and I hope the result can be a good one again.
“The game is sold-out, it’s great news for us and the whole city and it will be nice to play in front of them and I hope we can give them plenty to shout about. We have to make sure we start the game well.”

Swansea City Women claimed their third straight victory with a thumping 6-1 win over Briton Ferry Llansawel at Llandarcy Academy of Sport.
Four goals from Aimee Deacon and a brace from Chloe Chivers helped the Swans secure their third win in as many games, taking their tally to 16 goals across their last two fixtures.
Briton Ferry Llansawel were reduced to 10 players just before half-time when Brooke Llewellyn was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card.
Swansea carved out the first chance of the match after just three minutes. A long ball picked out Chivers in space 30 yards from goal, but her effort failed to trouble the keeper as it sailed over.
Swansea’s Amelia Forkings was the first goalkeeper to be called into action, denying a powerful effort from Laura-May Walkley after her driving run into the box, before Jess Williams reacted quickly to clear the danger.
Swansea then took the lead minutes later when Caitlin Williams’ cross picked out Chivers at the back post, where she finished from close range.
Swansea doubled their lead just four minutes later. Chivers’ corner was met by Williams, who directed the ball into the six-yard area. Ferry were unable to clear, with Steph Turner’s initial effort striking the crossbar, and Deacon reacted quickest to turn in the rebound.
Swansea added a third before half-time following a brilliant run from Trivett, whose teasing delivery into the box was only partially cleared. The loose ball fell to Chivers on the edge of the area, and she guided a low, curling strike into the bottom corner to claim her second of the afternoon.
Swansea continued to press and almost added another soon after, as Emily Thomas raced down the right and delivered a dangerous ball to Trivett, but her effort was straight at Courtney Young.
Things went from bad to worse for the visitors just before the break, as Llewellyn was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Deacon.
The forward then won her side a penalty on the brink of the interval, before stepping up to confidently to place the spot-kick past Young to cap a fantastic first half for the Swans.
Ferry began the second half positively, with Jade Crofts scoring from distance. Her powerful strike caught Forkings off guard, giving the visitors a consolation goal.
But Swansea restored their four-goal cushion minutes later. A ball into the area was initially punched clear by Young, but Deacon was quickest to react and slotted home the rebound to complete her hat-trick.
The momentum remained with the Swans, who almost added another soon after. Emily Thomas raced down the right flank and delivered a dangerous ball to Trivett, but her effort was straight at Ferry keeper Young.
As they did against Pontypridd United in their previous outing, the Swans continued to push for more goals. Chivers was denied her hat-trick after a powerful strike from inside the area, with Young making a strong save.
The Swans quickly added another goal in the 58th minute. From a corner, a scramble in the box wasn’t cleared and, after a series of blocks and efforts, Deacon was once again perfectly placed to tap the ball home for Swansea’s sixth.
Swansea continued to dominate possession, with Emily Richards almost making an immediate impact. A mistake at the back from Briton Ferry allowed the ball to fall to the midfielder, who drove forward before her low, curling effort drifted narrowly wide of the left-hand post.
The Swans saw out the final 25 minutes to secure the victory, making it three wins from three as they reach the halfway point of phase one.
