Swansea City Under-18s produced a fine second-half fightback to round off their Professional Development League season with victory at Crewe.

Owen Lunt put Crewe Alexandra ahead in the first half with an excellent curling effort, following Ben Hughes’ penalty save.

But goals from Zane Myers and Charlie Veevers pulled the Swans ahead before Iwan Morgan added a third to secure three points to end their season, despite a late Marquise Martins strike for the hosts.

Darren Davies once again named a side with a number of under-16 players, including 15-year-old Jacob Cook who was on the bench for the under-18s for the first time this season.

The first chance of the game fell to the Swans, with Kyrell Wilson’s delivery finding skipper Filip Lissah at the back post, but his header was well held by the goalkeeper.

But after seven minutes, the hosts would have a penalty. David Roberts dragged down Max Woodcock, who was breaking into the Swansea box, leaving the referee no choice.

Ben Wood stepped up to the spot for Crewe, but Hughes pulled out an excellent save to keep it at 0-0.

The Swans would continue to push for an opener, with Lissah and Morgan both testing the goalkeeper to no avail.

Instead Crewe broke the deadlock before half-time, Lunt curling a shot from the edge of the box into the top right corner to put his side ahead.

But an incredible first five minutes in the second half pulled the Swans right back into the game.

Just two minutes after the break, Morgan played a ball across the box which Geoff Bony left well for Myers to tap home and level.

Myers almost netted again just two minutes later, this time Bony finding him at the back post, but the keeper would put it behind for a corner.

Veevers took the resulting corner short before breaking into the box and firing a curling left footed effort into the top corner to put Swansea ahead.

Darren Davies then introduced a number of under-16 players who have been involved with squad, with Rohan Davies, Sam Parker and Cook all being introduced.

The Swans would seal three points with just seven minutes left, Rohan Davies pulling the ball across the Crewe box to find Morgan to tap home.

Martins would pull one back with just seconds to go, but Crewe couldn’t find an equaliser.

The win sees Swansea end their season with another three points, climbing up to fifth in the Professional Development League South.
