Josh Thomas and Ali Al-Hamadi scored a brace apiece as Swansea City Under-18s beat Southampton 4-2 in Premier League South.

The young Swans recorded their first victory of the season following a magnificent first-half performance that saw them race into a 4-0 lead at Landore.

Allan Tchaptchet and Roland Idowu replied for Southampton, but it could not prevent the hosts from claiming maximum points.

Thomas put Swansea in front after just 10 minutes as he smashed home from close range.

The 16-year-old striker doubled the lead 11 minutes later when he latched onto Morgan Clark’s through ball, before side-footing past Oli Wright for his third goal of the season.

Al-Hamadi made it 3-0 with a deft touch to steer in Jacob Jones’ 27th-minute cross while, seven minutes later, he headed home a Ryan Bevan corner to put the hosts firmly in control.

Alex Rutter then saved Benni Smales-Braithwaite’s penalty, but could do nothing to deny Tchaptchet from pulling one back just before half-time.

Idowu reduced the deficit further when he finished off a well-worked move eight minutes after the restart.

However, there was no denying the Swans a first victory of the season.
