U18s team huddle 16x9

Joe Haigh scored a hat-trick as Swansea City Under-18s were swept aside 8-0 by a rampant Chelsea in Premier League South.

The young Blues stormed to the top of the table following an emphatic performance that saw them score seven second-half goals to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

The Swans fell behind after just five minutes at Landore as Sam Iling’s cross was turned in by George Nunn at the near post.

Chelsea stretched their advantage seven minutes after the break with deflected strikes from Myles Peart-Harris and Haigh putting them 3-0 to the good.

Peart-Harris grabbed his second in the 55th minute following a neat move that resulted in him sweeping home Xander Simons’ cutback, while Haigh completed his brace with a fine individual effort.

Dion Rankine got in on the act when he lashed a fierce long-range effort into the top corner before Haigh rounded off his hat-trick six minutes from time.

And the Swans’ misery was completed with two minutes remaining as Lewis Bate drilled home from the penalty spot after skipper Luke McKendry brought down Simons.
