Ben Cabango earns seventh Wales cap against Turkey

Four Swansea City players joined up with their countries for the most recent international break with Olivier Ntcham called up for Cameroon and Ollie Cooper, Ben Cabango and Liam Cullen joining up with Wales.

Ntcham made his third start for Les Lions Indomptables since making his debut in a friendly against Uzbekistan in September.

The Swans midfielder played 72 minutes of the friendly against Mexico, which was played in San Diego. The match ended 2-2 with Mexico’s Kevin Alvarez equalising in the fourth minute of added time.

Liam Cullen was an unused substitute in both of Wales’ Euro 2024 qualification defeats to Armenia and Turkey respectively. Ollie Cooper didn’t make the squad for the first match, but was on the bench for second.

Ben Cabango earned his seventh cap in Wales’ defeat to Turkey at the Samsun Stadium. The 22-year-old replaced Brennan Johnson as a substitute at half time with Rob Page’s team already down to 10 men. That match ended in a 2-0 defeat, which came on the back of a 4-2 home defeat to Armenia three days prior.

Wales Under-21s begin their Uefa Euro campaign on Tuesday (June 20) with Swans youngsters Ben Lloyd, Cameron Congreve, Joel Cotterill, Josh Thomas and Evan Watts named in the squad.
