Ben Cabango | That was a really important win
Swansea City captain Ben Cabango praised his side’s character and team spirit after the Swans came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Norwich City.
Goals from Adam Idah and Moussa Yeo overturned Jacob Wright’s opener to secure the Swans’ sixth win in nine matches.
The victory kept Swansea at the top of the early Championship table, extended their unbeaten home record in the league, and saw them concede just their second home league goal of the season.
And Cabango was left pleased with the response after the Swans fell behind, particularly following a three-week international break between fixtures.
“It was an important win and a good win,” he said.
“I’m really happy. It’s been a long international break with three weeks since our last game, so it was hard to get going in that first half.
“There were a few sloppy mistakes in that first half but we put that right in the second half and we’re really happy to come back from a goal behind.
“We felt we were on top in that first half but were just sloppy in certain moments and then I think second half we really cleaned them up.
“Not much changed in the second half, I just think it was the quality and stuff going forward was a lot better. It all came together and it was just good to come from behind.”
The Swans made three changes to the side that defeated Lincoln City before the international break, with Joseph Opoku, Gonçalo Franco and Jay Fulton all coming into the starting XI.
The victory also marked the second consecutive game in which Swansea have recovered from a losing position, something Cabango believes highlights the strength and depth of the squad.
“We want to start games better and we want to go in front in games, but we know we’ve got that character if we do go behind,” he added.
“That’s two games in a row now where we’ve come from behind so it’s really showed the character we have in the squad.
“It’s not just the starting 11, it’s everyone coming off the bench and making an impact. Hopefully, we can continue building on this.
“Everything and everyone is really positive right now. The feeling is really great.
“We need to keep on that home and away now, because it’s given us a real platform to build on.
“We’re in a good position but we need to carry that on and keep pushing."
