Ben Lloyd | It’s massive for us to get that win

Ben Lloyd was delighted to make an important contribution as Swansea City Under-21s made it back-to-back league wins with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in the Professional Development League.

The Wales U21 international broke the deadlock 15 minutes into the second half, scoring from the penalty spot at the second attempt to give his side a deserved lead.

Kai Rhodes then sealed the points with a fabulous strike soon after, as Swansea claimed their first home league win of the season and condemned Huddersfield to their first defeat of the campaign.

And Lloyd was pleased to reward a gritty team effort by finding the back of the net, while also admitting he could have added to his tally.

“I think first half, we knew it wasn’t good enough,” he admitted.

“We came in at half-time, corrected a few things and I think our second-half performance was much better. We came out with two goals and a win.

“The first goal lifted us and we really needed that, because we didn’t create too many really good, clear-cut chances before then.

“We could tell then that the boys showed, in the last half hour, what we’re really about. We were dominant and prevented them from creating numerous chances.

"I should have probably scored a hat-trick, but it was a really good team performance in the second half."

It was Swansea’s second meeting with Huddersfield in the space of a week, following a 2-2 draw in the Premier League Cup, with the latest result extending their unbeaten league run.

And Lloyd was pleased to see his side make their opportunities count this time around and secure the win.

“It was massive to get the win,” he added. “There was a lot of frustration with the draw last week.

“We want to win games of football and not draw them, especially last week when we know we should have taken three points.

“It’s massive for us to get that win and hopefully we can keep that going.

“For me personally, it was great to score in back-to-back games. I just want to keep scoring as many goals as I can and help the team.”

Swansea now turn their attention to Friday’s league trip to Fleetwood Town as they look to continue their winning run.
