Swansea City Under-18s' forward Billy Clarke said he’s 'buzzing' with his current goalscoring form, but gives full credit to his teammates for creating the opportunities for him.

Clarke opened the scoring in the young Swans' 4-1 south Wales derby victory over Cardiff City in the Professional Development League Cup, while also grabbing a brace in the second half before Callum Jones rounded up the scoring from the spot.

The result means the Swans finish top of Group B, booking their place in the quarter-finals of the cup - a competition in which they reached the final two years ago against Millwall.

The hat-trick for Clarke means he has now scored five goals in his last three games for the Under-18s, and the 17-year-old was pleased with his attacking contributions, but felt it was just as important to deliver a strong response after a disappointing defeat to Charlton in their last outing in the league.

“It was a really good performance from us. I think we deserved the win and it’s nice for us to get the four goals as well, but we have high standards and it’s gutting we couldn’t get the clean sheet," said Clarke.

“I have been in good form recently and I’m buzzing to get another three goals. I have to give credit to the team though as they have been creating the opportunities for me, and I’m thankfully I have been able to put them away.

“We had a disappointing result against Charlton before the break but we have had a couple of weeks of training which I think we have only got stronger since then.

“We looked at the mistakes we made and I think we responded well with the performance and the result.

“These are the games you want to win, especially with it being a derby. We get to go again next week against them, and with us being at home we’ll be full of confidence and ready for it.”
