Callum Deacon is savouring a "proud" moment after signing his first professional contract at Swansea City.

The 18-year-old has signed terms until at least June 2026, with the deal including the option of an additional 12 months through to 2027.

Deacon joined the Swans at under-10 level and has made his way through the ranks over the past eight years.

"It's a very nice achievement for me and my family, it's also a very proud moment for all of us as I've been at this club for nearly 10 years now," said Deacon.

"Coming into an academy at a young age, you know that the goal is to be a professional footballer, it's what you work towards and it's where we all want to be.

"I'm very grateful I've been given this opportunity and I want to keep on working as hard as possible to get more valuable opportunities."

The defensive midfielder missed the majority of the 2023-24 campaign as a first year scholar due to a back injury, returning to the pitch at the start of last season.

And his return saw the youngster captain the under-18s on numerous occasions, whilst stepping up to the under-21s and featuring in the Premier League Cup.

"I had the news in September of that season that I had fractured my back, and it was very hard to take at first," he added.

"Especially, when it impacts your first year of being a scholar, that's a huge opportunity to impress. But I'm so grateful for all of the medical support I received during that time, I wouldn't be in this position today without it.

And he is not the only Jack in the family, with his sister Aimee Deacon part of the Swansea City Women squad.

"We're quite the footballing family, and there is some competitiveness at times. My other sister also plays football," added Deacon.

"But I also want to thank my family for the support over the years, again, without them I would have never have had this opportunity."
