Club connections | Lincoln City
As Swansea City get set to face Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon, we take a look back at some notable connections between the two clubs.
Paul Connor
Paul Connor is one of several players to have represented both Swansea City and Lincoln City, with the striker featuring for the Swans between 2004 and 2006 before later joining the Imps.
Connor arrived at Swansea from Rochdale in March 2004 and quickly became an important part of the side. He formed effective partnerships with Lee Trundle and Kevin Nugent, scoring 12 goals in 44 appearances during the 2004-05 promotion campaign.
In total, Connor made 65 league appearances for the Swans, scoring 16 goals before leaving for Leyton Orient in January 2006. He later joined Lincoln City in July 2009, making 15 appearances during an injury-hit spell at Sincil Bank.
Liam Cullen
There is a more recent connection between the clubs through Liam Cullen, who spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Lincoln City.
The forward made 20 league appearances for the Imps, scoring once, with his goal coming in a 2-1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers.
Cullen had joined Swansea’s academy at the age of eight and went on to make 207 appearances for the Swans, scoring 37 goals and earning 15 Wales caps. He ended his 19-year association with the club this summer, joining Leicester City on a three-year deal.
Jordon Garrick
Jordon Garrick also links the two clubs, having progressed through the Swansea academy before spending time on loan with Lincoln City.
Garrick joined the Swans after impressing during a trial, having previously played for Ossett Albion, and made his senior debut in a 3-1 League Cup win over Northampton Town in August 2019. He went on to make 11 league appearances for Swansea.
He joined Lincoln on a season-long loan in August 2022, making 11 league appearances for the Imps before returning to Swansea in January 2023. During his time with the Swans, Garrick also scored his first professional goal against Cambridge United in the League Cup.
Morgan Whittaker
Morgan Whittaker’s connection with both clubs came during the 2021-22 campaign, with the forward spending time at Swansea before moving to Lincoln on loan.
Whittaker joined the Swans from Derby County in February 2021 and made 33 league appearances, scoring six goals. He also scored on his debut against Manchester City in the FA Cup.
He joined Lincoln on loan in January 2022, making his debut against Oxford United and scoring in a 3-2 defeat. Whittaker went on to make 20 league appearances for the Imps before returning to Swansea.
Carl Rushworth
Carl Rushworth provides another link between Swansea and Lincoln, with the goalkeeper enjoying successful loan spells at both clubs.
Rushworth joined Lincoln on loan from Brighton in July 2022, making 42 appearances during his season at Sincil Bank. He then moved to Swansea in July 2023, again on loan, for the 2023-24 campaign.
Rushworth made 46 league appearances for the Swans and was named both Supporters’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year at the end of the season.
Paul Farman
Another player to have represented both clubs is goalkeeper Paul Farman, who spent six years with Lincoln City before later joining Swansea City in 2025.
Farman initially joined Lincoln on loan before making the move permanent in May 2012. He went on to make 242 appearances for the Imps, becoming a key figure during their 2016-17 National League title-winning campaign. That season also saw Lincoln reach the FA Cup quarter-finals, with Farman featuring in their memorable victory over then Premier League side Burnley at Turf Moor.
Farman later continued his career in the EFL before joining Swansea in August of 2025, signing a one-year deal after leaving Barrow.
