Filip Lissah signs new long-term Swansea City contract

Filip Lissah has committed his long-term future to Swansea City having put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.

The centre-back has signed terms through to the end of June 2027, with the option for an additional 12 months.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding campaign at under-21 level, skippering the development side to the final of the Nathaniel MG Cup.

Lissah made his senior debut for the Swans against Bournemouth in the FA Cup and has been in the matchday squad on a handful of occasions.

He has been with Swansea City since the summer of 2021, after arriving in SA1 following a spell at Chelsea. 

The versatile defender, had been in the Blues academy since under-eight level. The youngster also had a short trial at Derby County before making the move to join the Swans.

Lissah made the step up to under-21 level at the start of the 2022-23 season, and he signed his first professional contract in November 2022.

"Since I arrived at the club it was clear that Filip is a young player with a real desire to fulfil his potential," said Swansea City academy manager Gavin Levey.

"Anthony Wright and the under-21s' staff have been hugely impressed with Fil’s progress and have been a huge influence on the decision to move Filip into the first-team environment.

"The relationship between the academy and first-team staff is key and enables us to commit our best young talents like Filip to the club with a clear pathway for him to work towards."
