Filip Lissah | That was a special feeling
Filip Lissah savoured the “amazing feeling” of scoring his first senior goal for Swansea City after he helped them to a thrilling 4-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.
After Stephen Eustaquio and Joseph Opoku had put the hosts in control, Lissah added a third goal before the break, controlling a crossfield pass before running on and steering a powerful effort beyond keeper Balázs Tóth to open his senior account for the club.
Ross Stewart then marked his first start for the Swans by adding a fourth early in the second half to round off a dominant afternoon in SA1.
But it was a particularly special moment for academy graduate Lissah, who couldn't hide his delight at full-time.
“It was an amazing feeling just seeing the ball go into the back of the net,” said the 21-year-old.
“It wasn’t my best finish but they all count. I was delighted to score and just help contribute to what was a good term performance.
“It’s been a long journey, coming here at 16 and then going through the academy.
"Now having a good season with the first team it’s sort of topped off that journey so far. I just want to continue to get better and keep helping the team.”
The Swans' win against Rovers saw them return to winning ways for the first time in three matches.
The result also saw the Swans register their sixth clean sheet of the campaign, with Lissah pleased with the collective response following last weekend’s heavy defeat at Queens Park Rangers.
“It was a complete performance from all the boys,” he added.
“We were all delighted to bounce back from that performance last week and I think that shows the character and togetherness within the group.
"We didn't let last week's defeat affect us and we showed that with the way we performed today.
“The mood in the camp has been fine this week and we wanted to show a reaction.
“The pressure we put on them and the quality that we showed was all there to see.
"It was another team clean sheet and another very good performance.”
