Sam Parker completed a dream week as he opened his goalscoring account for Swansea City Under-21s, just days after signing his first professional contract.

The defender netted the opener in the 4-1 win over Crewe Alexandra at the Swansea.com Stadium, arriving at the far post to convert an excellent cross from Joel Cotterill.

Josh Ginnelly doubled the lead after the break with a composed finish, before turning provider to set up Mykola Kuharevich for a tap-in, while substitute Iwan Morgan added a fourth late on.

Nathan Robinson got a late consolation for the Railwaymen as they suffered defeat on their travels.

Parker produced an excellent all-round display, hot on the heels of having put pen to paper on a contract through to the end of June 2026.

And the Welsh age-grade international was thrilled to cap off an important week in fine style.

“We all played well as a team, we couldn’t get the clean sheet in the end, but to score four goals is very good,” said Parker.

“It’s been a really good week for myself, and now I’ve just got to carry on and work hard. I’d like to get more goals, but to get my first goal for the under-21s at the stadium is a great feeling.

“It was good to bounce back from defeat at Barnsley, where we let in some sloppy goals. Here, I think we showed what we can do and now we just need to build on this."

Parker also enjoyed the chance to link up with Ginnelly, Kuharevich and Nathan Tjoe-A-On, who all got valuable minutes under their belts as they dropped in to the age-grade side from the first team.

“They came out and took ownership, they went out there as role models. Josh Ginnelly said a lot of good things to me, which helped me and that’s something to learn off. It was a good experience having them there," added Parker.

“Looking forward, I just want to carry on improving, show what I can do and get as many minutes as I can with the under-21s.”
