Iwan Morgan says Swansea City Under-21s are relishing the challenge they face in the Nathaniel MG Cup, after progressing to the second round with a 4-0 win over Carmarthen Town.

Morgan, 17, grabbed two goals, and an assist - setting up Ben Lloyd - as the Swans advanced, with Glory Nzingo adding the visitors' fourth goal before the interval.

The Swans received a wildcard entry to this season's competition, and this first-round tie marked the first time the Swans had featured in the tournament.

And striker Morgan and his team-mates are savouring the opportunity to play against new, senior opposition.

“It was great to be back going again, getting minutes into the legs. As a team, I thought we did so well, there were times where we found it tough, and it got physical at times," said Morgan.

“After they went down to 10 men (early in the second half), the game sort of slowed down and went in our favour. The main thing to take away from today is that we got the win we wanted, and we want to go as far as we can in this cup.

“I think we showed in our performance today that we can challenge senior teams and show our quality.

“We don’t play these teams regularly, and that’s always a learning curve for us. You always learn in games like this, as you’re sharing the pitch with people who have years of experience.

"We're all excited to see who we get in the second round now, but I also think once we get our remaining pre-season games out of the way, we'll be up for it. It's a great challenge for us and one we are determined to make the most of."
