Swansea City Under-18s’ captain Jack Fanning can feel a real buzz around the squad as they prepare for Wednesday’s Professional Development League Cup final against Millwall at the The Den.

The Swans have reached the showpiece occasion for the first time after an outstanding campaign in the competition, which has included knock-out wins over Premier League clubs Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers

They face a Millwall side who have enjoyed a strong season – reaching the last four of the FA Youth Cup – but Fanning and his teammates are excited by the challenge.

“It means everything to lead the boys out in the final, but everyone in the team leads in their own way and hopefully by the end of it we can win that trophy and celebrate as a team,” he said.

“We had some disappointing results against them, but we are now in a good run of form and the boys are just flying.

“There is a great vibe in the camp, we are buzzing and can’t wait to get out there.

“I’m buzzing for the boys that we have this opportunity, we have such a good group here and the boys really dug deep to get to the final.

“We have worked really hard all season and I am just really proud of the boys and we are just really looking forward to the chance to try and win a trophy.”
