Coach Joe Roberts is looking forward to an exciting challenge when Swansea City Under-18s journey to the East Riding of Yorkshire to face Hull City in the third round of the prestigious FA Youth Cup competition at the MKM Stadium.

Swansea exited the competition at this stage last season, after a 2-0 defeat to Southampton, but have enjoyed a positive start to their respective domestic and PDL Cup campaigns this season.

Currently sitting second in the south division, the age-grade side finished top of their PDL Cup group following wins over Cardiff City and Wrexham, and are looking forward to facing the Tigers.

“It’s one of those fixtures you always look out for. It’s part of the experience of being a scholar at this club, and we see it as an exciting challenge - a chance to play in a stadium," said Roberts.

"Being a knockout competition also adds a bit of consequence to the result, which makes it even more special.

“We also want to go as far as we can in any cup competition because the further we progress, the more games the boys get, and the more experience they gain.

"With the Watford match on Saturday just gone, the trip to Hull midweek, and another league game against Queens Park Rangers to follow, it’ll be a real test and an exciting three-game week for the squad.”
