Joel Piroe hailed the passion of the Jack Army after Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Cardiff in the south Wales derby.

The Swans romped to a dominant win at the Swansea.com Stadium as Russell Martin’s men secured all three points in front of a vociferous home crowd.

Jamie Paterson opened the scoring just shy of the half-hour mark with a curling effort from 25 yards – the midfielder’s fourth goal of the season.

Piroe added a second on the hour with a deft finish after a fine flowing move, while Jake Bidwell wrapped up the win with a third after more good work from Paterson.

And Piroe was quick to praise the magnificent support as Martin’s side made it just one defeat in their last seven league outings.

“It was an amazing feeling, we really played well, we are just doing what we had to do and it is wonderful to win 3-0,” said the Dutchman, who now has seven goals in 12 appearances following his summer move from PSV Eindhoven.

“We had a good preparation to the game, the fans were also amazing so we had all the energy and we knew exactly what we needed to do.

“It’s wonderful, just wonderful, we love to do things for them and we needed the three points so it’s a good feeling overall.”

The Swans now welcome West Brom to SA1 on Wednesday night, and Piroe hopes that he and his team-mates can build on the derby win.

“We want to build on this game to get a nice streak going and I think the first job is done but now we have to go on to the next one,” he said.

“We still have some room for improvement but we’re on the right track and Sunday was a good day.”
