Swansea City Women’s midfielder Kelsey Thomas was delighted to get her first goal for the club in her side's 6-1 win over Cascade YC Ladies in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup quarter-finals, and is keen to kick on.

Thomas rejoined the Swans in the summer from Carmarthen Town, and has made six appearances this season.

The 18-year-old scored the third goal in the weekend cup win, sliding home a calm finish after a great ball from Emily Thomas as the visitors sealed a semi-final spot ahead of Wednesday night's draw.

It was a landmark moment for the teenager, but she wants to show there is plenty more to come from her.

“I’m really happy with it, I’ve been waiting a long time to get my first goal for the team,” said Thomas.

“It was good that I was able to score and assist, to be able to help out the girls and get through to the semi-finals.

“For me, I’m an out and out midfielder, but in this game I was a bit further forward. It was a bit different but I think I did well and it suited me.

“I think linking up with Emily [Thomas] worked quite well and having our pace in the middle helped create some good opportunities.

“It’s good to be in the managers thoughts, I’m looking forward to the next game now and hopefully I can get myself another goal.

“Every competition is really important to us, we all want to win trophies this year, so it’s great to be into the semi-finals.”
