Josh Smith referee

Josh Smith will be the man in the middle when Swansea City travel to face Bristol City on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off).

The Peterborough-born official followed in the footsteps of his father when he picked up the whistle in 2006 to oversee a Peterborough and District Junior Alliance League game aged just 14.

Nine years later he was added to the EFL Assistant Referee list and completed three years before choosing to specialise as a referee. He received successive promotions and quickly returned to the EFL on the referees list.

Saturday will be the ninth Swans match Smith has officiated in his career. One of those matches was the historic 4-0 south Wales derby win at the Cardiff City Stadium in 2022, his most recent Swans outing was in October at St. Mary's for Swansea City's 0-0 draw against the Saints.

So far this season, Smith has officiated 10 games handing out 30 yellow cards and two red cards.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Sam Lewis and Callum Gough. Jacob Miles is the fourth official.
