Meet the officials | Morecambe

3rd January
First team
Tom Nield referee

Tom Nield will be the man in charge when Swansea City host Morecambe in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

The match will mark the second time the official from Wakefield has overseen a Swans match, having taken charge of the home match against Norwich City in October.

Nield works mostly in League One and Two, but has been handed seven Championship fixtures this term. Saturday will mark his second FA Cup match having blown the whistle on a dramatic 3-3 draw between Stevenage and Port Vale, which was decided by a penalty shootout in favour of the Boro.

The Yorkshireman was initially added to the National List of Referees in 2018, and may well have progressed to Select Group 2 by this stage had he not had to lessen his PGMOL appointments during the Covid-19 pandemic in order to work additional hours in his other job as an NHS nurse with the Mid-Yorkshire Hospital NHS Trust.

Saturday will mark his 16th match of the 2023-24 campaign. He has so far handed out 60 yellow cards and one red.

Nield will be assisted by Richard Wild and Daniel Leach. Ruebyn Ricardo will be the fourth official.
