Monk: Final is for fans

24th January

Garry Monk dedicated Swansea City's appearance at a first major cup final to the Jack Army, insisting: "This is for you."
The Swans saw off European champions Chelsea to claim a 2-0 aggregate win in the last four stage to book their spot in the Capital One Cup final.
It means Michael Laudrup's side will face League Two side Bradford City at Wembley on February 24 (4pm).
And Monk, who skippered the team to Play-Off glory over Reading in the club's last trip to Wembley, said this latest historic achievement is for the loyal supporters who have stuck with the Swans through some tough times.
"No-one deserves this more than them," Monk said. "They have been with the club through thick and thin, the good times and bad times.
"Ten years ago this club was in serious danger of losing its Football League status, but the fans have stuck with the club and played a massive part in the rise.
"Thankfully we have had more good times than bad over the last few years, so this is a peak for the club.
"If we could get a top-ten finish in the Premier League and win the League Cup final then this would go down as the most successful in the club's history."
Monk, whose last-gasp winner kickstarted the club's Capital One Cup campaign at Crawley Town in the third round, added: "What an achievement for the club, chairman, board, players, the city and everyone behind the scenes here.
"We know we can write our names in the history books. It is a special thing for a player to do that for any club, but especially for this club considering where we've come from and what we've been through.
"Now we have to go and win it. There's no point in getting to a final and losing.
"Both sides will be thinking the same, and it bodes well for a great day.
"We have full respect for Bradford. What they have done is magnificent.
"It's going to be a great day out for both sets of fans, but hopefully our fans will have more to celebrate on the day."
