NORWICH PREVIEW

Swansea City return to action following the international break as they welcome Norwich City to the Swansea.com Stadium this afternoon (12.30pm).

The Swans will be looking to pick up where they left off before the break, with the Championship campaign continuing to gather pace as they enter another important run of fixtures.

The Canaries, meanwhile, will be hoping to improve their recent record against the Swans, having won just once in their last seven league meetings between the sides.

Stephen Eustaquio

The Swans will be without Stephen Eustaquio and Josh Key. Canada midfielder Eustaquio suffered a minor shoulder injury while on international duty, while Key is still recovering from a hamstring problem.

Ross Stewart is available and Vitor Matos otherwise has a fully fit squad to choose from.

Vitor Matos

Vitor Matos: “I think we have a lot of hunger and desire to play in front of our fans. That's a big part for us, and we want to give them a proper performance as well.

“It's been a long time since we played the last game, so you always try to find a way to build things again.

“But, like I've been saying, I think the most important thing is that we look to the next game.

"That's what we can do now: have the best possible team to play and beat Norwich in our way, with our style of attacking and trying to be really the protagonists on the pitch.

“That's what we've been doing, and that's what we're going to try against Norwich.”

Phillipe Clement: "They have invested a lot to get promotion, to get into the playoffs and kept the good things from last season. They took momentum into this season.

“It's a team with a clear identity, clear structure, hard-working players, attacking players working really hard without the ball, pressing, defending, being dangerous on transition.

"They play with one striker but they have two strikers who can score goals. Their top scorer from last season is playing much less now because Adam Idah is having a really good season.

“I know it's a big challenge but it's maybe good also to have a big challenge now. If we can go over that hurdle with the group, that's a big step forward also compared with the last week."

Meet the officials

Image
Andrew Kitchen

Andrew Kitchen will take charge this afternoon. The Durham-born official joined the EFL in 2021-22 after two seasons in the National League.

His first Championship appointment came in September 2023, overseeing Swansea City’s 1-1 draw with QPR. He has since refereed the 2025 League One Play-Off final and the UEFA Under-17 European Championships.

Kitchen oversaw the Swans twice last season, with both fixtures ending in defeats to Derby County.

He will be assisted by Andrew Dallison and Darren Williams, with Alan Young as fourth official.

Remember the last time?

Zan Vipotnik

A stunning brace from Zan Vipotnik helped Swansea City return to winning ways with victory over Norwich City at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The striker gave the Swans the lead against the Canaries with a rasping near-post drive, but that was cancelled out by Jovon Makama’s close-range effort just before the break.

But Vipotnik fired home from 20 yards with just over 20 minutes left to give Alan Sheehan’s side all three points and a first league win on home soil since August.

It was a deserved reward for a performance where Swansea’s energy saw them have the better of the opening half-hour, and much of the second half.
