Chloe Chivers vs Plymouth

Swansea City Ladies suffered defeat in their penultimate pre-season friendly as they lost to Portsmouth Women.

The hosts netted three goals in the first half, with Claire Skinner making a save from the penalty spot to prevent a fourth.

Pompey would net twice more soon after the restart, before adding two further efforts towards the end of the game to seal a comfortable win.

The home side started positively, opening the scoring after 16 minutes, Sophie Quirk finding Beth Lumsden to tap home.

Pompey would find a second eight minutes later, another cross from the left this time finding Ava Rowbotham to double their lead.

Six minutes later the hosts were awarded a penalty, but Skinner would make a fantastic save to deny Portsmouth.

But their third would come before the break, Emma Jones bundling over the line after a scramble in the box.

Pompey would continue their form in front of goal in the second half, Lumsden netting her second goal having event sent through one on one.

The hosts would have their second of the half five minutes later, a cross to the back post being headed home by Riva Casley.

The Swans came close to pulling one back through Chloe Chivers, a great effort from the forward being tipped onto the post.

But it would be Portsmouth finding the back of the net once again, Jones getting her second goal of the afternoon.

Pompey would then get a second penalty of the afternoon; this time Skinner couldn’t repeat her earlier heroics as Georgie Freeland converted from the spot in the closing moments of the game.
