Swansea City Under-21s started their Premier League Cup campaign in emphatic fashion with a dominant 3-0 win over Birmingham City at the Joma High Performance Centre.

New summer arrival Joe Davies opened the scoring with half-hour played before Thomas Woodward added a second deep into stoppage time in the first half.

And Woodward would continue his goalscoring form from last season - scoring 22 goals - as he bagged a brace in the second period, ten minutes from time.

Florian Bianchini was given minutes with the age-grade side, whilst Evan Watts played between the sticks, with Arthur Parker also featuring in defence.

It was a bright start for the both sides, with either team testing each other's backline

But the breakthrough came through debutant Davies who finished smoothly from Woodward's lay-off following great work from the attacking midfielder to dispossess a Blues defender in the build up.

And Woodward would get in on the goal action himself late on in the first half, making no mistake to head home from a well-taken Swans corner.

The second-half started in favour of the Swans comfortable in possession, with the introduction of fresh legs through Kai Rhodes and Harlan Perry.

Woodward added a third and bagged a brace in the closes stages after finishing off with a strike from a mazy, solo run to earn the Under-21s their first win of the campaign.
