Russell Martin will make changes for Swansea City’s Carabao Cup clash with Brighton, and has urged his players to take their chance to show what they can do against Premier League opposition.

The Swans head to the Amex Stadium on Wednesday night looking to reach the fourth round of the League Cup for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

The game comes hot on the heels of a stunning comeback at Luton, with Martin’s side earning a point after trailing 3-0 just 24 minutes into the contest.

The head coach admits there is a temptation to send out the same side that finished the Kenilworth Road fixture, but knows he will need to freshen things up as the Swans take on the Seagulls and former boss Graham Potter.

“There is a temptation to keep the group together but when you play three games in a week – as was shown at the weekend – it can be quite tough,” said Martin.

“Some of them are not quite ready to do that, so there will be changes.

“Also, it is important other people get the opportunity to play and show what they can do.

“We have to provide that, and we want to go with a strong team and try and win the game, and a few players take the opportunity.

“It’s important that everyone is part of the picture, that everyone is part of getting that detail of what we are doing. We want everyone to have opportunity.”
