Swansea City has received a wildcard entry to the Nathaniel MG Cup, where the club will compete against Welsh clubs from the JD Cymru Leagues.

This will mark the first time the Swans have featured in the competition, and it will provide valuable exposure to senior football for a number of young players in the club's ranks.

Twenty-eight clubs enter the competition in round one – 14 from the JD Cymru South, 12 from the JD Cymru North and two wildcards, of which the Swans have been handed one.

Two clubs from the JD Cymru South and two clubs from the JD Cymru North will be drawn to receive byes into the second round, where the 12 JD Cymru Premier clubs and last season’s two relegated top-flight clubs – Flint Town United and Airbus UK Broughton – will also enter.

All draws in the Nathaniel MG Cup from round one through to the quarter-finals are regionalised into Northern and Southern sections.

The first-round draw will take place tonight (Tuesday, June 27) live on the JD Cymru Leagues Facebook page at 7pm. Fixtures will be played on the weekend of July 21.
