Swansea City striker Josh Thomas has joined Port Vale on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance.

The 20-year-old links up with Vale ahead of their 2023-24 League One campaign, which gets under way with a trip to Barnsley this weekend.

Wales Under-21 international Thomas has been with the Swans since he was 12 years old, and signed a scholarship in the summer of 2019.

A fine start to the 2020-21 season - including a hat-trick in the under-23s' victory over Nottingham Forest - saw Thomas sign his first professional contract with the club before injury sidelined him for a significant period.

But he returned in excellent form last season, proving a reliable goalscorer. Thomas scored 23 goals for the under-21s as they just missed out on a place in the Professional Development League play-offs.

He has caught the eye during pre-season, netting five goals, and will now aim to get valuable senior experience under his belt at Vale Park.

Everyone at Swansea City wishes Josh every success during his loan spell.
