Swansea City submit final planning application for proposed fan zone

Swansea City can confirm the club has submitted a final planning application for an undercover Fan Zone at the Swansea.com Stadium, and that initial work on the project will begin in the coming days.

The club has been through the pre-planning stage and, having worked on some of the feedback and recommendations from that process – and following positive discussions with Swansea Council – a final submission has been completed.

The proposed Fan Zone will be situated behind the South Stand at the Swansea.com Stadium, and will be accessible on matchdays, as well as hosting non-matchday events.

The club will begin undertaking some preliminary and preparatory work on the proposed site in the coming days, and this will be visible to the public.

Some of this work will mean that, should the project be fully completed, the footprint of the memorial garden at the stadium will be altered, although the garden will remain in its current location.

Consultation with supporters regarding the Fan Zone has already started, and will continue, with the aim of ensuring it is a venue that is a true representation of Swansea City and meets the needs and requirements of as wide a range of supporters as possible.

The submission to the council includes mention of an intention for the Fan Zone to be open in December, but the priority with this process is to make sure the final venue is fit for purpose and so, should the delivery process need to take longer in order to provide the best possible supporter experience, then the club is prepared to follow alternative timelines as required.
