Vitor Matos insists a change of competition will not see a change of approach for Swansea City as they prepare to host West Bromwich Albion in the third round of the FA Cup this afternoon (2.30pm).

The Swans host the Baggies for the second time in 10 days, having prevailed 1-0 in the Championship meeting on New Year’s Day.

There will be no points at stake on this occasion, but a place in the fourth round of the famous knockout competition will be on the line.

Having seen his side take 15 points from the last 24 in the league – winning five of their last eight game – Matos is keen for Swansea to continue what has been a more positive run of results and performance, whatever the competition.

“This game is a priority because we want to win every game, so we are going to this game looking to compete and looking to win,” said the Swans boss.

“That’s how we see the game and the cup, it is a good game for us against a team we know well having played them twice in a really short space of time.

“They have changed their manager so it may mean things are a bit different, but they have a good squad and are one of the best squads in the league when it comes to their depth.

“This is a competition where you are either in or not, so it is different in that sense, but one thing that is the same is that this is a game we want to win and we want it to be us who is in the next round.”
