Head coach Vitor Matos says he and his Swansea City side return to play in front of the Jack Army full of hunger and desire as they prepare to face Norwich City on Saturday afternoon (12.30pm).

The Swans are back in SA1 following the international break, with Matos hoping the backing of the home supporters can provide an added lift as his side look to maintain their impressive start to the campaign.

Having collected 17 points from their opening eight league games, Swansea will be keen to pick up where they left off as the Championship season continues to gather pace.

“I think that's the positive thing about playing at 12.30 on a Saturday after the international break - you play at home with your fans, and that can give you a big lift in terms of desire and emotion and readiness,” he said.

“I think we have a lot of hunger and desire to play in front of our fans. That's a big part for us, and we want to give them a proper performance as well.

“It's been a long time since we played the last game, so you always try to find a way to build things again.

“But, like I've been saying, I think the most important thing is that we look to the next game.

"That's what we can do now: have the best possible team to play and beat Norwich in our way, with our style of attacking and trying to be really the protagonists on the pitch.

“That's what we've been doing, and that's what we're going to try against Norwich.”

The Canaries head to SA1 having collected nine points from their opening eight Championship fixtures, with three wins and five defeats leaving them 17th in the table.

Matos expects a competitive encounter, and believes the Canaries possess a number of qualities that are not necessarily reflected in their league position.

“They're a good team. I think they're a team whose performances on the pitch are not reflected in the table,” he admitted.

“They're really well organised and really aggressive. They have a clear idea of how they want to attack as well.

“They like to play from the back. They really try to overload the inside and use that to create a lot of situations. They're really dangerous on the counter as well and with the way they press.

“They're together with us in terms of data, the teams with the most high regains and counter-pressing, so that says a lot about their style.

“I think they're a really good team. I expect a really intense game, and I think it will be a really even game in terms of competitiveness. We're here to make that game as good as we can.”
