Vitor Matos | To win like that is a special feeling

Vitor Matos saluted a special feeling and the willingness of his Swansea City side to put in the hard yards after coming from behind to win at Lincoln City.

The Swans moved to the top of the Championship as they came through a battle at the ProAmpac Stadium to claim another three points.

They had trailed to Reeco Hackett’s penalty at the interval, but they turned the game on its head in the early stages of the second half as Moussa Yeo turned in Melker Widell’s cross to level, before Stephen Eustaquio’s deflected shot put them into a lead they were not to relinquish.

Victory moves the Swans to 17 points from the first eight games of the campaign, and Matos was proud of the application of his players.

“It was a special win. It is a special game when you come here because of the type of the test it is,” he said.

“You have to be able to handle a lot of intensity and a lot of physicality.

“You face a lot of long throws, a lot of set-pieces and so you spend a lot of time organising and having to have the right mindset.

“We were able to stay stable in those periods and then at the end of the first half we were able to impose ourselves and then we started the second half really, really well.

“Then we showed the proper collective effort as a team to make sure we were able to get the result.

“I think we should be so proud of the players and of our away fans because for us to come this far and have this amount of support is incredible.

“It means so much when we all have this feeling with them after the game, it is special.

“So we are happy with this feeling and the efforts of everyone and now we have some time to reflect and prepare for what’s next.”
