We all have a part to play, says Nathan

Nathan Dyer believes Swansea City’s older statesmen can help deliver the goods throughout the Championship’s festive fixtures.

Graham Potter’s side host Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday (3pm) before a trip to Hull City in the last fixture before Christmas.

Aston Villa then visit the Liberty on Boxing Day before the Swans welcome Wigan Athletic to SA1 in the final game of 2018.

A trip to Reading on New Year’s Day kicks off 2019 for the Swans in what will be the team’s fifth game in 17 days.

And Dyer, who made his first appearance for two-and-a-half months in last weekend’s win at Brentford, insists the Swans’ senior players will be ready to play their part during a busy period.

“The Christmas period is heavy in terms of fixtures, so the manager will need to count on everyone,” said Dyer, who claimed an assist at Griffin Park last weekend.

“The senior players in the squad like myself, Wayne (Routledge), Wilfried (Bony) and Leroy (Fer) know how demanding it can be, so we can bring our experience to the squad.

“But all of us will be ready because we know we all have a part to play.

“We will keep pushing each other and hopefully we can come through the Christmas and New Year period with a good run of results, because that could really push us up the Championship table.”
