Mentoring
Our mentoring programme is structured around early intervention and prevention. Adopting a trauma informed approach, our experienced mentors give their time with genuine interest to build rapport and create a trust-based relationship with each young person. The weekly sessions provide pupils with a safe and supportive environment to discuss their problems, thoughts and feelings.
Our mentors nurture optimism, foster resilience and encourage pro-social behaviours whilst providing direction and guidance. The one-to-one mentoring sessions assist young people with emotion regulation, conflict resolution and behaviour management, by teaching effective coping mechanisms to deal with day-to-day life.
We develop bespoke personal development plans that are tailored to the risks, needs, vulnerabilities and interests of each young person. We work closely with pupils to set and achieve positive goals, helping to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors. Incentives and rewards such as match tickets, club merchandise and stadium tours keep young people motivated and engaged with the programme.
Our overall aim is to reduce the risk of exclusion and divert young people away from anti-social behaviour and offending. We achieve this by supporting young people to make profound changes in their lives, helping them understand the consequences of their behaviour and encouraging them to strive for a successful future.
