Stacey John-Davis scored a hat-trick as Swansea City Ladies returned to the top of the Welsh Premier Women's League table after an empathic victory over Cascade.

The defending champions had full command of the fixture from the outset and took a 1-0 lead into the break courtesy of John-Davis’ close-range finish.

Swansea were ruthless in the second half, and put Cascade to the sword with Katy Hosford and Kelly Adams getting on the scoresheet, along with John-Davis adding a further two goals to complete her treble.

The Swans started brightly and, with just six minutes on the clock, Laura Davies split Cascade’s defence open to feed in John-Davis but the striker dragged her effort wide of the far post.

Soon after, John Davis did break the deadlock; a precise through ball from Emma Beynon allowed Hosford to run in behind Cyncoed’s backline and square it to John-Davis, who then buried it at the near post.

Hosford nearly doubled the lead but her effort from just inside the penalty box clattered back off the far post.

Swansea’s pressure was relentless but Hollie Williams kept the deficit to one as she tipped John-Davis’ shot in a one-on-one situation away to safety.

Jess Williams leapt to meet Hosford’s resulting corner but her header was denied by the woodwork.

John-Davis, in the hunt for her second of the afternoon, came agonisingly close to increasing the home side’s lead but her close-range volley was denied by the crossbar.

After applying sustained pressure, the lead was eventually doubled 10 minutes into the second half after Adams nodded home Hosford’s free-kick into the bottom corner.

The three points were then sealed as Hosford tapped in on the rebound after John-Davis’s shot was parried by Williams.

John-Davis bagged herself a brace as she remained composed in a tight penalty area and shot on the spin to beat the keeper from inside the six yard box.

The brace soon became a hat-trick for John-Davis in the final play of the match as Mel Sartain picked her out in the middle of the box and she made no mistake to volley home from point-blank range.
