First team

Swansea continued to impress in the Premier League by claiming a credible 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

The omens were not particularly promising for the Swans, who had never won away at Liverpool, while the hosts were unbeaten on home soil so far.

Kenny Dalglish’s men established early control on the contest with Andy Carroll rattling the crossbar, while Luis Suarez fired wide of the target.

However, the Swans did threaten at the other end with the in-form Danny Graham inches away from connecting with Wayne Routledge’s cross, and Joe Allen curled a shot just wide of the post.

Although, they did have Michel Vorm to thank for keeping the Reds at bay after tipping Suarez’s 25-yard effort away, as well as another header from Carroll.

But Brendan Rodgers’ men held their own and had a great chance to snatch all three points as the clock ticked down, but Mark Gower could only fire over from Nathan Dyer’s knockdown.

Liverpool finally had the ball in the net in the closing stages but Dirk Kuyt was denied by the offside flag, while Vorm produced heroics once more to block Suarez and Glen Johnson.

The Anfield faithful showed their respect to the Premier League new boys, with the Reds fans clapping off Rodgers' side after an impressive display.
