19th June

The Swans came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League.

In a frenetic first half at the Liberty Stadium, the visitors took a two-goal lead thanks to Joshua King and Dan Gosling, before Andre Ayew and Jonjo Shelvey rescued a point for the Swans.

King tapped home the opener inside ten minutes when Junior Stanislas laid the ball on a plate for the striker, before Gosling doubled the Cherries' advantage with a rifled effort into the roof of the net.

But the Swans responded on 28 minutes when Ayew skilfully pulled one back for the Swans, while Shelvey hauled Garry Monk's side level from the penalty spot six minutes before the interval.

The point means the Swans move onto 15 points after 14 games in the Premier League.

After a tense opening, it was the visitors who struck first blood when King tapped home from close range on nine minutes.

The Bournemouth striker was gifted a golden opportunity when Stanislas took advantage of Kyle Bartley’s unfortunate ricocheted clearance to pass across the six-yard box for King to open the scoring.

But the Swans almost hit back immediately from the restart when Ayew sent Wayne Routledge through on goal, but the winger’s prodded effort was deflected just wide off the leg of Cherries stopper Adam Federici.

From the resultant corner, Eder then saw his diving header cleared off the line as the Swans aimed for an instant reply to their early setback.

However, after Lukasz Fabianski denied King his second goal of the game and Stanislas saw an effort chalked off for offside, the situation was made even more difficult for Monk's men when Gosling arrived in the box to meet Matt Ritchie's cut-back and rifle into the top corner to make it 2-0.

But Monk's side were handed a lifeline just three minutes later when Shelvey's knock down in the box fell to Ayew, who skilfully back-heeled the ball past Federici to reduce the deficit.

Buoyed by Ayew's strike, the Swans began to gain control of proceedings and were the team in the ascendancy.

Then in the 38th minute, they were rewarded for the efforts when Andre Marriner pointed to the spot after Ayew was fouled inside the area following a neat through ball by Leon Britton.

Despite the high-pressure situation, Jonjo Shelvey kept a cool head to slot the resultant penalty past Federici and haul the Swans level.

Following an action-packed first 45 minutes, chances were few and far between early on in the second period.

Harry After tested the reactions of Fabianski from distance, while defender Steve Cook volleyed across goal but to no avail.

With 30 minutes on the clock, the Swans sent on Jefferson Montero and Gylfi Sigurdsson in place of Routledge and Britton in an attempt to spark their second half into life.

After Cook volleyed over the bar for the Cherries, the Swans made then their third and final change as Bafe Gomis replaced Eder.

As the game entered its final ten minutes, the Swans were beginning to crank up the pressure as Montero caused Simon Francis problems down the left flank, while Shelvey struck over the bar from distance.

At the other end, Gosling wasted an opportunity to restore the visitors' lead following a scramble in the box, but the midfielder prodded over the bar.
