24/03/2012 15:00 v Everton

29th May
First team

The Swans’ run of three consecutive victories came to an end as they were beaten 2-0 by Everton at the Liberty.

Leighton Baines and Nikica Jelavic were on target in the second half as the Toffees became only the third side to leave SA1 with all three points that season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side dominated proceedings in the first half and Everton had Phil Jagielka to thank as he was instrumental in ensuring the game remained goalless.

The centre-half was well-placed to intercept dangerous crosses from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Angel Rangel, whilst also blocking a goalbound effort from the Icelandic midfielder.

Jagielka’s interventions would prove vital as David Moyes’ side gained the upper hand after the break.

Everton had never lost against the Swans and they took the lead just before the hour mark when Baines curled a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner and well beyond the reach of Michel Vorm.

The Toffees wrapped up the points 14 minutes from time as Marouane Fellaini outmuscled Ashley Williams in the penalty area, before his square ball provided a simple tap-in for Jelavic.
