Swans Women and Girls Academy Round-up

Three of our academy sides were in action over the weekend, with plenty of goals and impressive performances across the age groups.

Take a look at what went on in our weekly academy round-up.

Under-15s

The under-15s returned to winning ways on Saturday morning as they secured a 2-0 victory over Haverfordwest County at the Bridge Meadow Stadium.

The Swans opened the scoring in the 28th minute through Grace Morgan, who netted her second goal of the season, having also found the back of the net against Cardiff City a fortnight ago.

Arianwen Buiden then rounded off the scoring for the Swans, also finding her second goal of the campaign to secure all three points in Pembrokeshire.

The result lifted the Swans into fourth place in the National Academi South, moving above Barry Town United on goal difference, with Ceiron Williams' side set to face Barry in their next fixture on November 14.

Swansea City Women Under-15s: Poppy Thomas, Indie Roberts, Ava Carman, Grace Morgan, Amelia-Rae Cloke (C), Imogen Phillips, Olivia Gill, Arianwen Budden, Skye Cannon, Ellie-May Scott, Ella Bowen.

Substitutes: Isla Bishop, Amelia-Lily Sullivan.

Under-17s

The under-17s extended their unbeaten run to six matches as they recorded an emphatic 5-1 victory over Barry Town United at the Joma High Performance Centre.

The visitors took the lead after just three minutes, as a through ball from Phoebe Howells in midfield was latched onto by Gracie Campbell, who advanced into the area before poking the ball past Madison Payne in the Swansea goal.

The Swans responded just seven minutes later, with Ruby Burgin advancing down the right flank before delivering a dangerous ball into the area, which Barry failed to clear. The ball eventually fell to Molly Silcox, who teed up Elin Edwards on the edge of the area, with the midfielder striking a powerful first-time effort to level the scores.

Burgin was involved once again as the Swans took the lead, playing a superb ball through the defence to Seren Kirk, who drove into the area before squaring the ball to Seren Lewis, who converted from close range to net her first goal of the season.

Lewis Walters' side continued to add to their tally, with a third goal arriving just before the half-hour mark. A corner delivery from Silcox found Edwards, who was on hand to convert and complete her brace.

Swansea added a fourth on the hour mark, with a well-worked team move resulting in Katie Walters laying the ball off to captain Kirk, who unleashed a powerful effort from distance that flew past goalkeeper Elinor Burrows for her second goal of the season.

Striker Silcox rounded off the scoring in the 73rd minute, with Edwards driving in from the left before picking out the Swans' number nine, who made no mistake in powering the ball home for Swansea's fifth of the afternoon.

The result lifted the Swans into fifth place in the South Wales Women and Girls League Combined Division, with five points from three games, ahead of their trip to Penybont this Sunday.

Swansea City Under-17s: Madison Payne, Carys Reason, Iola Parton, Marie-Leigh Henricksen, Ruby Burgin, Elin Edwards, Molly Silcox, Ruby Dwan, Seren Kirk (C), Halle Morgan, Seren Lewis.

Substitutes: Lily Woodland, Katie Walters.

Under-19s

The under-19s extended their unbeaten run to three matches following a 1-1 draw against Briton Ferry Llansawel at Llandarcy Academy of Sport.

Richard Harris' side opened the scoring after just four minutes, as captain Susanna Cunningham won possession in midfield before playing the ball down the right flank to Ada Woodman. The 17-year-old advanced forward before producing a superb lob over goalkeeper Charlotte Merry to give the Swans the lead, netting her fourth goal in just two games.

The Swans held onto their lead until shortly after half-time, when Briton Ferry found an equaliser. A corner from substitute Gwennan Folkes was delivered towards the back post, evading the Swans' defence before falling to captain Begw Gruffydd, who was on hand to convert from close range and draw the visitors level.

The result leaves the under-19s in fourth place in the table, as they prepare to travel to Cwmbran Celtic on Friday night.

Swansea City Women Under-19s: Chloe Rees, Caitlin Sweeney, Darcey Phillips, Evie Evans, Lily Stabler, Ada Woodman, Susanna Cunningham (C), Megan Williams(Darcie Trow 59'), Ellie Gibbins, Ffion Ferguson(Danni Webster 78'), Robyn Preece.
