Alan Sheehan | Manchester City tie a challenge to be excited by
Alan Sheehan believes Swansea City’s Carabao Cup assignment against Manchester City is a game the whole club can look forward to and be excited about.
The Swans’ reward for advancing past Crawley Town, Plymouth Argyle and Nottingham Forest is another home tie, this time against a club who have won eight of the last 13 Premier League titles.
City were also Champions League winners in 2023, while they are eight-time winners of the League Cup.
The Swans – winners of the competition in 2013 – will start as firm underdogs against Pep Guardiola’s men.
But head coach Sheehan views the visit of the Citizens as an example of the sort of games the club want to get back to playing on a regular basis, and as an occasion to be savoured.
“We are very excited by the tie. Those are the sorts of nights and games that we want to bring to the football club.
“We had a taste of it in the last round against Nottingham Forest and we want to go up against the best.
“I think it’s fair to say we will be facing a team coached by one of the game’s best and most influential coaches.
“This team has been incredible for a sustained period, so for us as a club to test ourselves against the best clubs in the Premier League is something to be excited about, and we are really looking forward to it.”
