Alan Sheehan | That was an outstanding away display
Head coach Alan Sheehan praised an “outstanding” away display from his Swansea City side after they secured a 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Second-half goals from Zan Vipotnik and Ronald saw the Swans extend their unbeaten streak to five matches in south Yorkshire, while they also racked up a second clean sheet from four league games.
The visitors controlled the majority of the first half and had chances to take the lead, but their second-half performance was totally dominant and they could easily have won by a greater margin.
And Sheehan was a very happy man.
“That was all you can ask for,” he said.
“We got the three points and a clean sheet away from home, I thought the second-half performance was outstanding and we had chances to put the game to bed earlier.
“But ultimately it is two goals, a clean sheet and really close to a complete team performance on the road.
“We controlled the first half without hurting them loads, and we asked the lads to go up a gear and I really enjoyed watching us in the second half and I hope the fans enjoyed being able to see that performance.”
Sheehan also had words of praise for Vipotnik, who grabbed his third goal in the space of a week when he ran onto Zeidane Inoussa’s pass to guide the ball beyond Owls keeper Ethan Horvath at the near post.
“Zan has had a wonderful week and he led the line for us extremely well,” he said.
“He had a bit of a disrupted pre-season with a toe injury, but we feel like he has really got up to speed.
“He is a wonderful lad and we are definitely seeing the best of him right now.”
