Alan Sheehan | We are very disappointed we did not take all three points
Alan Sheehan was disappointed Swansea City had not taken all three points after watching his side play out a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic at The Valley.
After a first half of few clear chances, the Swans fell behind seconds after the restart as Charlie Kelman took advantage of a defensive misjudgement.
But the visitors responded strongly to the setback and had by far the better of the remainder of the contest.
Adam Idah got them level with a fantastic turn and finish from the edge of the area, and Kaelan Casey and Josh Key had good chances during the closing stages with the Swans making all the running and looking like the only team capable of finding a winner.
Charlton have now lost just one of their 21 league games on home turf, but Sheehan was still frustrated his side had not inflicted defeat on their hosts.
“We are very disappointed we did not take all three points,” said the Swans head coach.
“When you come here you know you have to negate and be able to deal with their direct play and set-pieces, and those transition situations.
“They are a team that is very difficult to play against, you have to break them down and keep working.
“We made a poor start to the second half having looked very comfortable in the first half.
“But then we just took over. It was just wave after wave after wave of us attacking. We had numerous opportunities and got into the final third.
“Adam led the line well for us, he had a very good chance in the first half, got into good areas. He was a constant menace and got his goal.
“We had other opportunities. It was just a case lacking a bit of composure in our decision-making, so we are disappointed with a point today because we were the better team and outstanding in that second half.”
Sheehan also confirmed that Zan Viptonik is set to undergo a scan on a quad injury, after the Slovenian was absent from the matchday squad in south-east London.
“Zan felt something in his quad at training yesterday. Games are coming thick and fast so we did not want to take any risks and we will manage him the best we can.
“It’s disappointing but we will get that looked at.”
