Azeem Abdulai is hungry for more opportunities after making his Championship debut for Swansea City against Birmingham City.

The midfielder has featured regularly throughout pre-season, most often in an unfamiliar wing-back role.

He was thrust into the thick of the opening-day action against the Blues, coming on as a second-half substitute, as he became the latest player to progress from the Swansea academy to feature in a league fixture for the club.

And with Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Northampton Town looming on the horizon, the Scotland Under-21 international’s Swansea.com Stadium experience has only whetted his appetite.

“It was the proudest moment of my career so far, I’ve put a lot of hard work to get to this point,” he said.

“I’ve had opportunity during pre-season, I have been playing out of position, but as long as I am playing I think that’s a good thing for me.

“I was a bit nervous when my name was called to come on but, whatever position I play, to get the chance is unbelievable. The group here is good, and we showed good spirit to get back into it.

“I just want more now, and we want to move on to Tuesday and get a win under our belt with the new gaffer.

“We want to kick on from here. I want to kick on too, and do my best to get more opportunities.”
