Ben Cabango happy to keep home momentum going
Skipper Ben Cabango was delighted to see Swansea City pick up where they left off on home turf as they defeated Sheffield United 1-0 at the Swansea.com Stadium.
The Swans had headed into the new campaign having enjoyed an excellent end to last term in SA1, and they have carried that on with wins over Crawley and Blades this week.
Ronald got the only goal of the game against last season’s beaten Championship play-off finalists, with the Swans spurning opportunities to make the margin of victory more convincing, while they limited the visitors with an outstanding defensive showing.
It’s now six wins, one draw and one defeat from the last eight games at home, and Cabango was a happy man as the Swans gave the Jack Army plenty to cheer about in their own back yard once again.
“That was an excellent performance,” he said.
“We started with real intensity, we were brave on the ball. We did the same at the start of the second half, got the goal and the clean sheet so it was a real solid performance.
“We can take a lot of confidence from that, we were disappointed to lose last weekend but we took the momentum from the cup game in midweek and really showed the quality we have and we want to carry that on.
“Without the ball I don’t remember them having a shot on target, and against a quality team like that it takes the whole team to be able to do that. Everyone worked so hard for each other.
“You could feel the energy from the fans in the stadium, the level of backing they give us. We have had a good home record, and they pushed us on to get another win.
“If we carry on performing like that then hopefully we can give them plenty to shout about.”
